Mama’s Family debuted on NBC in 1983 as a sitcom centered on Thelma Harper, a no-nonsense widow played by Vicki Lawrence who rules her Raytown household with sharp wit and blunt wisdom. Sharing her home are her sister Fran, a journalist; her son Vint, who moves in after losing his house along with his two teenage children; and Naomi, a woman who marries Vint early in the season. Carol Burnett appears as Eunice, Mama’s high-strung daughter, bringing chemistry from their years together on The Carol Burnett Show. The family communicates through constant bickering and put-downs, mining comedy from their blue-collar dysfunction and domestic chaos.

This complete first season arrives on two DVDs with a total runtime of six hours and thirty minutes, rated TV-PG. The collection includes memorable episodes such as the one featuring the family on Family Feud with Richard Dawson. You can own this comedy series on physical media at a used price.
