Major League (Wild Thing Edition)

Movie / Show Details

Major League is a 1989 sports comedy directed by David S. Ward about an unlikely path to victory. When Rachel Phelps inherits the Cleveland Indians baseball team, she devises a scheme to lose as many games as possible so she can justify relocating the franchise to Miami. To execute her plan, she assembles the most dysfunctional roster imaginable: a washed-up catcher with bum knees, a past-his-prime pitcher, a young fireballer with a criminal record and a 100 mph fastball but zero control, a wealthy third baseman too precious to dive, a slugger who can’t hit a curveball, and an enthusiastic but clumsy leadoff hitter. The ensemble cast includes Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, Wesley Snipes, Corbin Bernsen, James Gammon, and Margaret Whitton.

This single-disc DVD release runs 107 minutes and carries an R rating from Paramount Pictures. Despite their rocky start and Phelps’ growing frustration, the misfits gradually overcome their individual shortcomings and begin winning games, defying her expectations.
