Live On Letterman: Music From The Late Show

CD Details

Live On Letterman: Music From The Late Show is a 1997 compilation of rock performances recorded for the Late Show. The album features an eclectic roster of artists including Paula Cole, Dave Matthews, Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow, Lou Reed, and Patti Smith, along with notable duet pairings such as Lyle Lovett with Al Green and Elvis Costello with Burt Bacharach. While some of these collaborations offer intriguing combinations, many performances carry the polished, cautious tone of musicians aware they’re playing to a national television audience. Established acts sound somewhat dated here, though veteran performers like Lou Reed and Patti Smith demonstrate their enduring command of the stage.

This CD contains ten tracks spanning rock styles, with a runtime of approximately 34 minutes. The collection presents an uneven mix of performances that, while diverse in approach, lacks a cohesive spark.
