Cal Tjader’s vibraphone-led Latin jazz ensemble captured two live performances at San Francisco’s Club Macumba in fall 1956. The quintet, featuring Luis Kant on congas and an unnamed bongo player, blends mambo rhythms with jazz standards and original compositions, creating an energetic snapshot of the West Coast Latin jazz scene during that era.

This 2012 reissue presents the complete club recordings on one CD, featuring tracks like “The Lady Is A Tramp,” “Mambo At The M,” and “Philadelphia Mambo” alongside extended instrumental explorations. A used copy lets you experience this historic live session without the new price tag.
