Live and Let Die is a 1973 spy thriller and the eighth film in the James Bond series, marking Roger Moore’s debut as the iconic MI6 agent 007. Directed by Guy Hamilton and based on Ian Fleming’s novel, the film follows Bond as he investigates the murders of three British agents, a case that leads him to New Orleans and eventually to a Caribbean island. There he confronts Mr. Big, a Harlem drug lord whose true identity masks a corrupt dictator named Dr. Kananga, who schemes to flood the market with free heroin to eliminate his competition. Bond must navigate a dangerous world of organized crime and voodoo to stop Kananga’s operation. The cast includes Jane Seymour and Yaphet Kotto alongside Moore in his first outing as Bond.

This special edition DVD release from United Artists contains two discs and runs 121 minutes, rated PG. The film marked a significant moment in the Bond franchise as the first to feature an African American actress, Gloria Hendry, in a romantic role opposite 007.
