Monty Python’s Life of Brian is a 1979 British satirical comedy directed by Terry Jones and written by Eric Idle, Graham Chapman, and John Cleese. The film stars the entire Python ensemble, including Idle, Chapman, Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, and Jones himself. Set in 33 A.D. Judea, the story follows Brian Cohen, born in a stable next door to the manger, who through a series of absurd circumstances becomes entangled with a new religion and is mistakenly believed to be the promised messiah. Caught between fanatical followers, his domineering mother, and Roman authorities, Brian must navigate the chaos that ensues, all while the troupe delivers their signature brand of irreverent, absurdist humor.
