Morten Lauridsen’s choral compositions receive a refined performance on this 2005 classical recording. The Britten Sinfonia and Polyphony ensemble, conducted by Lauridsen himself, present sacred and secular vocal works spanning spiritual meditations and settings of Italian Renaissance poetry. The program opens with the extended title work Lux Aeterna before moving through Madrigali, a cycle of six fire songs based on Renaissance texts, followed by shorter devotional pieces including Ave Maria, Ubi Caritas Et Amor, and O Magnum Mysterium.
