Movie / Show Details

Kit Kittredge: An American Girl is a 2008 live-action family film directed by Patricia Rozema and Robert Milicevic. Set during the Great Depression, the story follows resourceful nine-year-old Kit Kittredge, played by Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin, as her father loses his business and leaves to find work elsewhere. To keep their home, Kit and her mother, portrayed by Glenne Headly, take in boarders whose stories prove as interesting as their circumstances. When a lockbox containing the family’s savings disappears, Kit’s new friend Will, a young hobo, becomes the prime suspect. Convinced of his innocence, Kit investigates the theft herself, uncovering clues that suggest someone closer to home may be responsible and putting herself and her friends in danger.
