Coleman Hawkins, a pioneering saxophonist, takes center stage in this compilation of two live jazz concerts from 1962 and 1964. Joined by trumpet virtuoso Harry “Sweets” Edison and legendary drummer Papa Jo Jones, Hawkins delivers 140 minutes of performances that showcase why he remains one of jazz’s most influential innovators. The 1962 concert, newly discovered from the Adolphe Sax Festival in Belgium, makes its debut here alongside the 1964 show, both featuring stellar European and American musicians.

This single-disc DVD was newly restored and released in 2009 as part of the Jazz Icons series. You’re getting a piece of vintage jazz history on physical media you can own and revisit anytime.
