Introducing Rubén González is a jazz and Latin album released in 1997 featuring Cuban pianist Rubén González. Born in 1919, González had stepped away from professional performance before World Circuit Records brought him back to record this debut album in Cuba in 1996. The sessions capture González exploring a wide range of Cuban musical traditions, from son to salsa influences, accompanied by percussionists and a trumpeter who engage in dynamic musical dialogue throughout the recording.

This CD contains nine tracks including “La Engañadora,” “Cumbanchero,” “Tres Lindas Cubanas,” “Melodía Del Río,” “Mandinga,” “Siboney,” “Almendra,” “Tumbao,” and “Como Siento Yo,” with a total runtime of approximately 45 minutes. Recorded in a single session, the album showcases González’s piano work across various tempos and rhythmic styles, from the brisk energy of uptempo pieces to the deeper explorations found in longer compositions.
