Illuminations

CD Details

Josh Groban’s fifth studio album, Illuminations, arrived in 2010 as a collaboration with producer Rick Rubin that pushed both artists beyond their usual boundaries. Groban co-wrote eleven of the thirteen tracks, crafting deeply personal songs that blend folk sensibilities with classical arrangements. Working alongside singer-songwriter Dan Wilson, Groban recorded much of the material live with acoustic guitars and piano, later enhanced by orchestrations from David Campbell and James Newton-Howard. The album also features compositions by Nick Cave and a mother-son piece by Kate McGarrigle and Rufus Wainwright, creating a collection where intimate storytelling meets sophisticated instrumentation.

This CD contains thirteen tracks spanning roughly fifty minutes, released on Reprise Records. Notable songs include “Bells Of New York City,” “Galileo (Someone Like You),” “Higher Window,” and “Love Only Knows.” Acquire this used copy and own a record that captures Groban at his most vulnerable and artistically adventurous.
