CD Details
If Trees Could Talk is a 1999 jazz album by baritone saxophonist Hamiet Bluiett, a member of the World Saxophone Quartet, accompanied by pianist Larry Willis. Recorded using Mapleshade’s distinctive analog approach with no overdubs, compression, or mixing board, the album captures Bluiett’s robust, earthy tone across a range of moods. Willis provides fluid solos and straightforward accompaniment, with percussionist Asante contributing skeletal Afro-beat rhythms on the opening track. The album showcases Bluiett’s impressive command of his instrument, from lush mid-range passages and squealing high notes to mournful melodies and sharp interjections, all while maintaining strong melodic sensibility.
This is a single CD released by Mapleshade Records and Mapleshade Studios, mastered live to two-track for maximum sonic clarity. A used copy from us means you own this direct, uncompressed recording at a fraction of retail.
