Des’ree’s 1994 album I Ain’t Movin’ is her second recording, a soul and funk collection centered on themes of resilience and self-reliance. The Londoner of Barbadian descent crafted most of these songs following a difficult breakup, channeling that experience into uplifting messages about personal strength. Her creamy voice pairs with swinging, austere arrangements across tracks that blend neo-soul, soft rock, and pop jazz influences, including the standout ballad “You Gotta Be,” which became a major hit and VH1 staple.

This CD was released on Legacy and contains eleven tracks with a total runtime of approximately 48 minutes. The album showcases Des’ree’s ability to balance introspective songwriting with accessible pop sensibilities, featuring songs like “Strong Enough,” “I Ain’t Movin’,” and “Living In The City” alongside deeper cuts. Grab this used copy and experience the album that introduced Des’ree’s distinctive sound to a wider audience.
