Movie / Show Details

Good Will Hunting is a 1997 drama directed by Gus Van Sant that stars Matt Damon as Will, a brilliant mathematician from Boston working as a janitor at MIT who hides his genius behind a life of fighting and drinking with his South Boston friends. When he solves a complex calculus problem left on a hallway blackboard, an arrogant professor takes him under his wing, but Will only avoids legal trouble by agreeing to see a psychiatrist played by Robin Williams. As the two men work through their shared trauma and emotional wounds, a transformative friendship develops that becomes the heart of the film’s quiet, introspective exploration of genius, pain, and human connection.
