Galileo: On the Shoulders of Giants is a 1997 animated biographical drama directed by David Devine that chronicles the life of Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei. Facing financial hardship, family struggles, and professional rivals, Galileo remains committed to his scientific pursuits with encouragement from his young apprentice, Prince Cosimo of the Medici family. The film explores how Galileo’s groundbreaking discoveries, including the invention of the telescope, challenged the prevailing beliefs of his era and the serious consequences he faced for his revolutionary ideas.
