Rufus Thomas was a Memphis entertainer who found his greatest success during the late 1960s and early 1970s, when he was already in his fifties. Working with Stax Records, Thomas recorded a series of funk and soul tracks that appealed to dancers of all ages with their infectious grooves. This compilation gathers 18 of his most danceable recordings from between 1967 and 1975, showcasing why the Mississippi-born vocalist earned his reputation as one of the funkiest performers of his era. Thomas passed away in December 2001 at the age of 84.
