From My Home is a 1997 contemporary classical album featuring violinist Gidon Kremer performing works by three Baltic composers: Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür, and Georgs Pelecis. Kremer, a Latvian-born musician dedicated to promoting music from his homeland, leads these compositions spanning from 1947 to 1994, including Pärt’s Fratres for violin, string orchestra and percussion, Tüür’s Partita for violin solo, and Pelecis’s Musica Dolorosa for string orchestra. Accompanied by pianist Vadim Sacharov and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Kremer brings intensity and depth to these seldom-performed pieces that blend romantic passages, atmospheric textures, and folk-influenced melodies.

This is a single CD released on the Teldec label, featuring approximately 59 minutes of music. The album showcases underappreciated Baltic classical compositions that range from somber and moving to intricate and inventive. Acquiring this used copy lets you explore these distinctive works at a fraction of retail cost.
