Director Daniel G. Karslake’s 2007 documentary examines how religious interpretations of the Bible have been used to stigmatize LGBTQ individuals in America. Through the stories of five Christian families, including those of former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt and Episcopalian Bishop Gene Robinson, the film explores how people of faith reconcile their beliefs with having gay children. Commentary from respected religious leaders including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg, and Reverend Jimmy Creech provides insight into how scriptural understanding has often been misapplied to justify discrimination.

This is a single-disc DVD from Atticus Group with a runtime of 95 minutes and an unrated rating. The film won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival. Grab this used copy and own a thoughtful exploration of faith, family, and acceptance.
