First Knight is a 1995 action-adventure retelling of the Arthurian legend directed by Jerry Zucker. Sean Connery stars as King Arthur, Richard Gere as the knight Lancelot, and Julia Ormond as Queen Guinevere. The story follows Guinevere as she faces pressure to marry Arthur for the security of Camelot while being drawn to the passionate Lancelot, who rescues her from the villainous knight Malagant (Ben Cross). The film balances themes of duty, honor, and forbidden romance against a backdrop of medieval battles and political intrigue.
