CD Details
Eyes on This is MC Lyte’s 1989 hip-hop album, showcasing the Queens rapper as a confident and commanding presence on the microphone. Working with some of the era’s top producers including Parrish Smith of EPMD, Grand Puba of Brand Nubian, and Marley Marl, Lyte delivers boastful verses across nearly all 13 tracks. The production emphasizes the drum machines and sampling techniques that defined late 80s hip-hop, with standout moments like the bouncy “Stop, Look and Listen” and the introspective “Cappucino,” where Lyte weaves wordplay around an everyday experience. Family member Milk contributes vocals throughout the project.
