Exorcist: The Beginning is a 2004 horror prequel directed by Renny Harlin that explores Father Merrin’s first confrontation with pure evil. Set in post-World War II Kenya, the film follows Merrin as he takes a break from the priesthood and travels to the remote Turkana region to oversee an archaeological dig. When the team unearths a pristine Byzantine church buried beneath the African soil, they discover an ancient crypt underneath it, unleashing a malevolent force that brings madness and violence to the local villagers and the British soldiers stationed there.
