Director Jean-Jacques Annaud brings the Battle of Stalingrad to the screen in this 2001 war thriller. When Nazi forces dispatch their own elite sniper, Major Konig (Ed Harris), to eliminate Zaitsev, the two marksmen engage in a tense game of cat-and-mouse across the burning ruins of the city. Bob Hoskins rounds out the cast as Kruschev, leading Stalingrad’s desperate resistance during one of World War II’s most pivotal moments.
