Buckwheat Zydeco’s Down Home Live is a 2001 live album capturing the Louisiana zydeco master performing at El Sid O’s Zydeco & Blues Club in Lafayette during his annual Thanksgiving show. Recorded in the intimate club setting, the album features Buckwheat Zydeco and his band delivering high-energy performances of traditional Creole-influenced material alongside creative reinterpretations of classics. The setlist ranges from the dance floor energy of “What You Gonna Do?” to the soulful rendition of “Beast of Burden,” and includes the band’s inventive take on Fats Domino’s “Walking to New Orleans” and Dural’s reggae-influenced anthem “Make A Change.”
This single-disc CD was released on Tomorrow Recordings and contains nine tracks totaling approximately 73 minutes of live performance. The recording captures the good-natured spirit and infectious energy of the evening, preserving both the musical excellence and the celebratory atmosphere of the show.
