Double Indemnity is a 1944 film noir thriller directed by Billy Wilder from a screenplay by Wilder, James M. Cain, and Raymond Chandler. Fred MacMurray stars as an insurance salesman whose professional judgment crumbles when he encounters a manipulative housewife, played by Barbara Stanwyck, who lures him into a scheme involving her husband’s death and a lucrative insurance claim. Edward G. Robinson, Fortunio Bonanova, Byron Barr, and Jean Heather round out the cast in this dark exploration of desire, deception, and moral compromise.
