Donovan’s Reef is a 1963 adventure-comedy directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne in his final collaboration with the acclaimed director. Set in French Polynesia, the film follows three former World War II navy buddies-played by Wayne, Lee Marvin, and Jack Warden-who run a rowdy island bar called Donovan’s Reef. Their carefree tropical life is disrupted when a proper Boston socialite, portrayed by Elizabeth Allen, arrives searching for her estranged father. Her mission is to prove he lacks moral character so she can take control of the family shipping business back home. Cesar Romero and Dorothy Lamour round out the cast in this raucous South Seas tale filled with barroom brawls, scheming, and comedic chaos.

This single-disc DVD release from Paramount Pictures runs 89 minutes and carries a US Approved rating. Ford’s final work with Wayne delivers the boisterous humor and tropical adventure the director was known for, making it a notable entry in both their filmographies.
