Gaetano Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda is a bel canto opera that premiered in the 19th century, telling the tragic story of Mary, Queen of Scots. This 2024 performance was filmed at the Teatro Real in Madrid under the direction of David McVicar, with conductor José Miguel Pérez-Sierra leading the orchestra. Soprano Lisette Oropesa takes on the demanding title role, bringing her artistry to one of opera’s most compelling heroines.

The DVD contains the complete opera performance on a single disc. Donizetti’s score showcases the vocal brilliance and dramatic intensity characteristic of the bel canto tradition. Owning this filmed performance on physical media lets you experience the Teatro Real production whenever you choose.
