Civic Duty is a 2006 thriller directed by Jeff Renfroe and written by Andrew Joiner. The film stars Ian Tracey as an American accountant whose anxieties intensify in the post-9/11 era when he begins to suspect his new neighbor, a graduate student of Islamic faith played by Kal Naga, of harboring dangerous intentions. The story explores how fear and media narratives shape perception in contemporary society, examining the paranoia that grips an ordinary man as he becomes increasingly convinced of a threat. Kari Matchett, Peter Krause, and Richard Schiff round out the cast in this drama-thriller that questions the line between vigilance and prejudice.
