Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song is a 2011 musical comedy from ABC Family that reimagines the classic fairy tale in a modern performing arts high school setting. Lucy Hale stars as Katie Gibbs, an aspiring singer trapped in servitude to her cruel stepmother Gail (Missi Pyle) and vain stepsister Bev (Megan Park). When Luke (Freddie Stroma), the son of a famous music producer, enrolls at Katie’s school, romance blooms between them. However, Gail’s scheme to launch Bev’s music career threatens to derail both Katie’s dreams and her budding relationship with Luke. Directed by Damon Santostefano and written by Erik Patterson, Jessica Scott, and Leigh Dunlap, the film follows Katie as she discovers her own voice and power through music and friendship.
