Cimarron is the third album from Luis Mario Ochoa’s Latin jazz nonet, released to mark the group’s tenth anniversary. Havana-born guitarist, vocalist, and composer Ochoa leads this Canadian-based ensemble whose name means free spirit, expanding the usual nine-piece lineup with guest musicians including saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera, trumpeter Guido Basso, and Ochoa’s father Luis Ochoa Sr. The ten-track program blends five original compositions by Ochoa with Cuban standards, American songbook selections, and a samba arrangement, all unified by Ochoa’s sophisticated orchestrations that merge Caribbean and South American rhythms with jazz harmonies.

This CD features Ochoa’s warm vocals and fluid guitar work alongside accomplished Canadian soloists, with each track showcasing his signature arranging style. Grab this used copy and experience the vibrant interplay of Latin jazz traditions and North American musicianship.
