Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor are performed here by conductor Fritz Reiner and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, recorded in 1987. Reiner draws an intense, forceful interpretation from the ensemble, bringing out the raw power and dramatic tension inherent in both works, particularly in Brahms’ symphony with its sweeping emotional arc.

This CD contains both pieces, with the Egmont Overture running 7:28 and the Brahms symphony completing the program. The transfer to digital audio is clean and well-balanced, capturing the orchestra’s full dynamic range. Own this striking classical recording at a fraction of what you’d pay for new.
