Body Double is a 1984 crime thriller directed by Brian De Palma, who co-wrote the screenplay with Robert J. Avrech. The film stars Craig Wasson as an unemployed actor who becomes caught up in a deadly mystery after spotting what appears to be a murder through a telescope while house-sitting in the Hollywood Hills. His discovery pulls him into a dangerous world involving the adult entertainment industry, where nothing is quite as it seems. Melanie Griffith and Gregg Henry round out the cast in this exploration of voyeurism and obsession.
