Movie / Show Details

Ridley Scott directs this 2001 war film based on Mark Bowden’s account of the October 1993 battle in Mogadishu, Somalia. U.S. Army Rangers and Delta Force operatives, led by soldiers played by Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor, and Josh Hartnett, are sent on a mission to capture lieutenants of Somali warlord Muhammad Farrah Aidid. When two Black Hawk helicopters are shot down by rocket-propelled grenades, the American forces find themselves trapped in the city’s streets, forced to fight their way through intense urban combat against armed opposition. What was meant to be a brief operation becomes a grueling 16-hour battle with heavy casualties.
