Hal Ashby directed this 1979 satirical comedy-drama about Chance, a sheltered gardener played by Peter Sellers, who finds himself navigating Washington D.C. high society following his employer’s death. With a supporting cast including Shirley MacLaine, Melvyn Douglas, Jack Warden, Richard Dysart, and Richard Basehart, the film explores how Chance’s innocent and simplistic views on life and politics unexpectedly win over the city’s most influential figures. Based on Jerzy Kosinski’s novel and adapted by Robert C. Jones, the story uses humor and drama to examine power, perception, and the gap between appearance and reality.

This is a single-disc DVD release from United Artists with a runtime of two hours and ten minutes and a PG rating. Owning this deluxe edition means you get a hand-inspected copy of a film that remains relevant decades after its release.
