CD Details
Beethoven composed his Concerto for Piano, Violin and Cello in 1804, a work unlike anything written before it, pairing three solo instruments with orchestra. The piece premiered in Vienna that year but rarely appeared in concert during the composer’s lifetime, overshadowed partly by the demanding virtuosity required of all three soloists. This recording brings together pianist Yefim Bronfman, violinist Gil Shaham, and cellist Truls Mørk alongside conductor David Zinman to perform both the Triple Concerto and Beethoven’s Septet.
Released on CD, this disc features four Grammy Award-winning artists interpreting two major chamber works by Beethoven. Bronfman, Shaham, and Mørk are among today’s most accomplished soloists, each with extensive international performance histories. Zinman’s Beethoven cycle has earned recognition from listeners and critics alike. Add this recording to your collection at a used price that makes it accessible to any classical music enthusiast.
