Under the Stars presents solo piano works by composer Amy Beach, performed by pianist Joanne Polk. Released in 1998, this recording is the second volume in Polk’s exploration of Beach’s piano compositions. The album features Romantic-era pieces spanning Beach’s career, including the virtuosic Valse-Caprice Op.4, the substantial Prelude and Fugue Op.81, and the evocative A Hermit Thrush At Eve Op.92, No.1, alongside shorter character pieces and songs without words that showcase Beach’s gift for melody.

This single-disc CD was released by Arabesque Recordings and mastered by House of Sound in Pelham, New York. Polk’s interpretations are marked by technical precision and sensitive musicianship throughout the program. Add this well-recorded volume to your collection at a used price.
