Bar of Gold is a 2008 country rock album by Baltimore-based artist Arty Hill and The Long Gone Daddys. The record blends honky-tonk and folk influences across eleven original compositions, showcasing Hill’s skill as a songwriter and vocalist. Standout tracks include the rocked-up “Step Back Mama,” the early 1960s-style shuffle “I’m Thinking It’s Better This Way,” and the dark “Nashville Moon.” Drummer Jack O’Dell contributes both an original tune and lead vocals on “A Wreck of a Man,” while the album features steel guitar work from Dave Gigerentz, fiddle from Heather Twigg, and Hill’s own Telecaster playing throughout.
