When an American couple is struck by tragedy while vacationing in Morocco, a chain of events unfolds that connects them to Moroccan boys caught in an accidental crime, a nanny illegally crossing into Mexico with two American children, and a Japanese teenager dealing with her own struggles in Tokyo. Separated by vast distances and cultural barriers, these disparate groups face isolation, fear, and displacement while discovering how family and human connection can provide solace amid confusion and loss.
