A notorious gunslinger named Quirt Evans finds himself wounded and in need of shelter when he stumbles upon a Quaker family’s homestead in this 1947 Western romance directed by James Edward Grant. John Wayne stars as the hardened shootist, alongside Gail Russell as Penelope, the family’s daughter who captures his heart. As the kind-hearted family nurses him back to health, Evans begins to reconsider his violent ways and is drawn to both Penelope and the peaceful faith her family practices. However, his dangerous past threatens to catch up with him and disrupt the new life he envisions.
