American Me is a 1992 drama directed by Edward James Olmos, who also stars in the lead role. Based on true events, the film follows a young man from East Los Angeles who rises to power as a leader of the Mexican Mafia during his 18-year sentence at Folsom Prison. Alongside his childhood friends, he commands the prison with brutal authority. After his release, he attempts to rebuild his life on the outside, only to discover that freedom brings its own dangers and that his violent past refuses to let him go. The film explores themes of gang culture, systemic prejudice, and the struggle to escape a cycle of crime.

This is a single-disc DVD release from Universal Pictures with a runtime of two hours and five minutes and carries an R rating for violence and language.
