Allo Allo is a British sitcom created by David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd that premiered in 1985, starring Gordon Kaye as René, a café owner caught in an increasingly complicated web of deception during the German occupation of France. After being shot dead, René poses as his own twin brother, a scheme that only deepens his troubles. He must juggle the demands of his formidable wife Edith, romantic promises to his two waitresses Yvette and Maria, German officers, the French Resistance, and a series of mysterious garlic sausages, each containing something different: a valuable painting, a forged document, or simply sausage. The result is a clever blend of slapstick comedy and wartime intrigue that balances humor with the tension of occupied France.
