Marc Almond’s 1993 solo album Absinthe: The French Album is a pop-rock journey through French chanson and art-rock traditions. Released on MSI Music/Super D, this collection features acoustic arrangements and French-language interpretations of works by legendary songwriters including Juliette Greco, Leo Ferre, Barbara, and Charles Aznavour, alongside musical settings of poems by Jean-Paul Sartre and Rimbaud. The Soft Cell frontman recorded this tribute to European chanson around the same time as his Jacques Brel project, blending his distinctive sensibility with classic French vocal traditions.

This CD contains nine tracks including “Undress Me (Déshabillez-Moi),” “Abel And Cain (Abel Et Cain),” “Lost Paradise (Le Paradis Perdu),” and “Secret Child (L’Enfant Secret).” Owning a used copy lets you explore Almond’s artistic range at a fraction of retail cost.
