Sergio Leone’s 1964 western follows a laconic gunslinger played by Clint Eastwood who arrives in a small town controlled by two warring families. Inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s samurai film Yojimbo, the picture introduced audiences to a new breed of western hero: morally ambiguous, dangerous, and willing to exploit the town’s chaos for his own gain. Eastwood’s character, though called Joe in the film, became known as the Man with No Name, and his cool demeanor and stylized gunfights captivated viewers when the film reached American theaters in 1967 after its Italian success.

This is a single-disc DVD release from United Artists with a runtime of 99 minutes and an R rating. The film stars Gian Maria Volonté, Marianne Koch, Sieghardt Rupp, and Wolfgang Lukschy alongside Eastwood, with a screenplay by Adriano Bolzoni, Jaime Comas Gil, and Mark Lowell.
