Little Joe & La Familia released 2000 in 1998, a Tejano album that blends soul and funk influences with the band’s signature accordion and horn-driven sound. Tejano legend Little Joe explores various styles across the ten tracks, from the ranchera polkas “Mira Juanita” and “Oye Amigo” to the midtempo ballad “Siempre Me Acuerdo De Ella,” written by his brother Johnny. The album also features bolero-salsa touches on “Tu Eres la Luz” and a nostalgic 1960s Tejano spirit on “Que Te Pasa Corazon,” complete with swirling horns and piano. Standout ranchera “Vas A Casarte” showcases Little Joe’s mastery of the accordion-driven style he helped define in the genre. Guest musicians including Bobby Navarrete on tenor sax, Bobby Loya and Salvador Torres on trumpets, and Ken Tussing on trombone add depth throughout.
