United States of Tara is a 2009 drama series from Showtime Networks that stars Toni Collette as Tara Gregson, a wife and mother living with dissociative identity disorder. When stress triggers her alternate personalities to surface-a rebellious teenager, a prim suburban housewife, and a gruff Vietnam veteran-her family must contend with the unpredictable chaos that follows. Directed by Craig Gillespie, John Dahl, and Mark Mylod, with writing from Alexa Junge, David Iserson, and Diablo Cody, the series explores how those closest to Tara cope with her condition. John Corbett and Brie Larson round out the cast.
