The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking

CD Details

Roger Waters released this rock album in 1984 as his first solo LP following his departure from Pink Floyd. Working with guitarist Eric Clapton, Waters crafted a concept album that unfolds as a surreal narrative spanning the early morning hours. The record takes listeners through a series of dreamlike scenes populated by an array of characters-from dangerous encounters to intimate moments to everyday domestic life. Waters masterfully balances periods of clarity and serenity with chaotic, distorted passages, weaving in recurring themes that tie the work together while blurring the line between reality and dream.

This CD contains eight tracks sequenced chronologically from 4:30 AM through 4:56 AM, including “Running Shoes,” “Sexual Revolution,” and “Go Fishing.” Clapton’s guitar work throughout provides essential texture, ranging from fiery electric passages to delicate acoustic accompaniment that mirrors the album’s shifting emotional landscape. A used copy from us means you own a piece of Waters’s ambitious solo debut at a fraction of retail.
