Tempting the Storm is Cara Luft’s 2000 album, a blend of folk and pop sensibilities that draws from Celtic traditions while embracing modern musical elements. Luft’s supple, intense voice carries nine original compositions and two traditional tunes, accompanied by intricate guitar work and guest violin performances from Richard Moody and Cam Harbidge. The album pairs raw, traditional instrumentation with quasi-rock rhythms, creating forward momentum throughout. Luft’s thoughtful lyrics and complex arrangements showcase her distinctive artistry as a singer-songwriter on the Western Canadian folk scene.

This is a single CD featuring eleven tracks with a total runtime of approximately forty minutes.
