Sanford and Son is a sitcom that premiered in 1972 and stars Redd Foxx as Fred Sanford, a junk dealer living in Los Angeles with his son Lamont, played by Demond Wilson. The third season, which aired in 1973-74, follows Fred and Lamont as they encounter various comedic situations while running their junk business and dealing with family life. The ensemble cast includes LaWanda Page, Lynn Hamilton, and Whitman Mayo, who joined the show this season as Grady, Fred’s friend. Created by Norman Lear and Alan Simpson with Ray Galton, the series was a major ratings success, and Foxx’s performance earned an Emmy nomination.
