Moulin Rouge 2 (Original Soundtrack)

CD Details

Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film Moulin Rouge inspired this soundtrack featuring composer Craig Armstrong and various artists. Where the first soundtrack emphasized pop contributions, this collection showcases original film versions that reveal the movie’s emotional core, including Nicole Kidman’s rendition of “Sparkling Diamonds,” the comedic “Like a Virgin” performed by Jim Broadbent and Richard Roxburgh, and the Offenbach-inspired “The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular).” Armstrong’s orchestral arrangements anchor the album, from a stately reading of Elton John’s “Your Song” to a dramatic duet version of “Come What May” featuring Kidman and Ewan MacGregor, blending downtempo electronic elements with modern classical instrumentation throughout.

Released on CD in 2001, this soundtrack contains instrumental and film versions of key songs from the movie, running across multiple tracks that showcase the diverse musical palette of Luhrmann’s production.
