CD Details
Gaelic Storm’s second album, released in 1999, blends traditional Irish music with world and rock influences. Following their appearance in the blockbuster film Titanic and their acclaimed debut, the quintet-whose members hail from Ireland, Zambia, England, and the U.S.-crafted an energetic collection of reels, jigs, and melodies. Fiddle, guitar, accordion, harmonica, and bodhran combine with African djembe and the band’s signature vocals to create an infectious sound that ranges from the rousing opener “Drink The Night Away” to the romantic sweep of “She Was the Prize,” with instrumental polkas and flamenco-jazz flavored passages throughout.
This single-disc CD was released on the Higher Octave label and runs approximately 48 minutes. The album captures the spirit of Gaelic Storm’s Santa Monica pub performances while delivering robust musicianship and merriment across tracks like “The Ferryman,” “Spanish Lady,” and “The Devil Went Down To Doolin.” Own this folk-rock gem on CD at a fraction of retail cost.
