A Shot in the Dark is a 1964 British comedy-mystery film directed by Blake Edwards and starring Peter Sellers as the hopelessly inept Inspector Jacques Clouseau. When a maid becomes the prime suspect in a murder case at an elegant household, Clouseau’s bungling investigation uncovers a tangled web of affairs, blackmail schemes, and hidden motives among the staff and family members. As the inspector stumbles through his inquiries, his incompetence only deepens the chaos while his exasperated superior officer watches in dismay.
